Disappointing Dealer!

Changed my front pads last weekend but found myself with the brake warning light left on, even with a new sensor wire. Bought another cable thinking it must have been a dodgy cable, only to find that the light stayed on. Had already checked the back and found no sensor fitted. Thanks to Andy (tyrefitter) confirming there should be one, had another look. Found the sensor detached, broken and tucked away behind the brake. Must have corroded or degraded over time, causing the light to come on.

This is SLIGHTLY annoying given that the rear discs and pads were done as part of the vehicle prep (it was approved used at Stratstone Nottingham). Very poor effort from a main dealer technician who has made the conscious decision that he couldn’t be ars*d to change the £7 sensor. Granted it was a bit awkward to get to, but I genuinely expected better from a main dealer.

So you buy a 60k plus car & the techy couldn’t be bothered to change the sensor,,he probably just joined the wires together hoping no one would notice. Andy.

Not at all surprised. Which is a damning indictment of LR dealerships, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Sorry to hear...worrying if they are so bad with a routine service item - god only knows how they attempt to fix more complex issues MY16, 3.0D HSE Dynamic, Barola Black, TV, Rear Entertainment, Opening Pan Roof, Meridian

My experience of a particular LR dealership is that complex stuff leads to other things being damaged. I had to have a new steering rack and lower column fitted after having turbos replaced. I guess they forgot to separate the steering column before lifting the body. Let me drive away with it damaged too, so obviously there was no test drive after doing the work - or they just didn't care and let it go out anyway.

Oh, and they used my warranty to pay for the new steering! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Reputable Indy would probably sack a technician for such skullduggery! Too damaging to their reputation and was ALWAYS going to be found out when the pads needed changing. Assholery at its finest and cost me £25 in cables to figure out! Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY
