United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver
Low IQ and FLAMING LATCHES

Hello again - all I have done since joining this (brilliant) forum is ask dumb questions about parts or faults for my 2008 L320... and this thread is exactly the same thing... sorry!

My passenger door lock sticks - the little square black piece inside doesn't close all the way when locked and doesn't open all the way when unlocked, the result being that the door is either locked when I need it open or open when I need it locked!

My garage say it just needs a "new latch" and I want to make sure I am supplying the right part...

Is this correct?

Considering the latches tend to become unreliable with age and are fiddly to replace I would advise against fitting a used part.
You can buy a new latch from advanced factors for not much more cash:

As a forum member there is a small discount applied if you use the code they supply. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

What confuses me is the sheer volume of parts that >LOOK< identical, but probably aren't... the following (part numbers copied from the link above) appear on eBay as new parts, ranging from £20 up to £80 for what appears to be the same thing!

yeah if you going to have the fun job or fitting it yourself, a cheaper part maybe the way to go.

But if your paying garage labour rates, it maybe worth paying extra IMO

It looks very much like the only differences are the price - I think I'll play it safe with the OEM in the first link, it'll be thgarage doing the fiddling for me...
