Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser

Does anyone have one of these installed?

Sounds like a very effective security measure, I’m just a little wary of someone soldering the unit into the spine of the car and causing damage to trim during the install.

Would be good to hear of anyone’s experience and any recommended fitters.

Thanks

James on here knows everything about the Ghost System.

From what i have read though they have caused some problems for some of the cars and are not Thatcham approved. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I read somewhere that Thatcham were reviewing it under some new digital protection umbrella, but in any case it has benefits beyond an insurance discount.

Any ideas what kind of issues have been encountered?

Thanks again.

Yes, I have one, not much to say other than the car won’t drive without the code

There was a video going round and the guy bypassed it by numerous attempts, this was looked at found to have been installed incorrectly, once fixed it was not possible

May I ask who installed yours? And was it all done professionally?

It's a brilliant bit of kit.

I had an issue when installed that popped up now and then, one call to autowatch and they sent someone to fix it.

Once you get used to it, putting the code in becomes a habbit, you don't even notice it. Also you can punch the code in very quickly.

It's not something you can do yourself, professional install only. Depending where you are in London, if your in east london PM me and I can give you the details of my installer.

I`m having it fitted to my Focus RS next week...I`ll keep an eye on this thread and report back. It`s very highly rated on focusrsoc. Steve.

Part of the reason I asked is one fitters website claimed he was no longer fitting them to JLR vehicles. I queried him as to why and it was to do with the soldering onto a couple of points in the vehicle. He suggested it was much more fiddly to do a JLR vehicle than others. Hence I was curious as to the experience people had if fitted to the L494.

Good luck with the fitting to the RS.

^^^ Clever kit Thumbs Up Cool It also has a garage/valet mode where the car can only be driven for a maximum of 15 miles at a max speed of 30mph for leaving at a garage for service, MOT etc. Steve.

Probably connection to the Canbus system. Shouldn’t be too difficult as there’s loads of places that it could be wired into. Bodsys Brake Bible

England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Also had one fitted to my L494, great bit of kit.

Engine will start but you can not select a gear until your CODE has been entered.
Code can be change after the installer leaves, to give you even more peace of mind.

Valet mode good for when the car is in for a service, which limits speed etc.

I went on "trackmycar.co.uk" who are very helpful, guy knew his stuff. 2014MY RRS SDV6 HSE Black Stealth with 22" Black alloys - LOVE IT (Now wrapped in 3M Satin Dark Grey)
