It’s coming home...

It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming...

Carplay’s coming home

Only....

It won’t work with your centre screen... or with your HUD.... or with your steering wheel controls... or display album artwork... Google live traffic is slower than the car nav...

But apart from that... MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

I’ve got CarPlay on my Audi SQ7 (that I’m about to trade for a Rangie) and my wife’s Golf and I’m describing how it does/doesn’t work.

Album artwork works well on Android Auto and it integrates well with the car phone but Apple CarPlay just says “refer to Apple carplay” if you try to use the steering wheel controls so you have to use the middle screen only (not touch on the audi, but is on the Golf) to work ACP. You can use the volume of course!

If you have HUD, the sat nav instructions are excellent but this won’t work with ACP or AA.

You never know, JLR may have overcome this and can pip everyone to the forefront of integration... MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

Waze is rubbish. A fad. Even Uber drivers have gone back to Google.

Of course, it’s nice to have a choice.

When ACP/AA comes, RRs will have ICTP sat, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and that Sygic or whatever it was that I downloaded in InControl Apps once when I had an F Type...

No excuse for being late to meetings then... Laughing MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have it in the Mini and don’t find it any advantage over any other system - I also don’t find the BMW Info system that everyone seems to rave about to be any better than anything from JLR except in two respects..... it is a couple of eons faster to react and this is the first car I have owned where the OEM voice recognition system actual understands my mid-Atlantic accent and does what I say to it, a first for me as I have never ever had my voice recognised in any Land Rover with voice activation. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Android voice recognition works best for my Austin Powers Brit accent.

Audi useless.

I hear RR owners on this slating the JLR VR but most brands are iffy at best IMO. Siri is also very average.

With Android Auto you can pretty much dictate a whole letter using their VR, if you remember to say the commas and full stops to punctuate messages. MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...
