Gesture Tailgate

When I first got our car , the gesture tailgate was hopeless , taking many attempts to get it to work usually resulting in getting dirt on your shoes . However now , it's just way too sensitive , there must have been a software update or something and all I have to do is walk around the back of the car with the keys in my pocket and the boot opens , not good when I was pressure washing it ! Or today it was open and it stated to close while I was still under it loading the boot . It could not be better when you do want it to open but the unexpected opening closing is getting just as annoying as when it used to barely work at all ! MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic ,MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !

Useless beyond words.

The only successful opening technique for me is the random wanderings of a West Highland Terrier under the car as she awaits being loaded up for a walk. Unfortunately, while loading said dog, our other Westie, now impatiently waiting to be loaded up, invariably also wanders under the car and the tailgate closes on my head (nearly always the latch!) 2017 SDV6 Autobiography; Carpathian Grey, Ivory, Soft Close, Extended Grand Black.

I have mud flaps on mine and I kick my big feet just behind them and it works 80% of the time and has been useful. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

It drives me mad. The first time I genuinely needed to use it when I had my hands and arms full of a heavy box, I lost my balance and nearly fell over trying to wave by foot just behind the rear wheel trying to open the damn thing!

I think just do it slow is the best technique and as you say just behind the mud flap, well that's if you have them Rolling Eyes I do it in that area both sides always work for me Thumbs Up

I just have to watch my German shepherd if she tries to lay under the back when it's in the garage !!!
