BUDGET TYRES

I do about 40 miles a week in London. Would maybe venture outside of London on a 100 mike round trip twice a tear so am thinking budget tyres at circa £100 a pop.
If I was doing more miles, especially on long to longish runs I wouldn’t even look at budget

Any thoughts? 2006 RRS Supercharged 4.2 HST muthuaflecka!

Would not fit budgets to mine and if i saw a car i was looking for i would be more wary if it has budgets on it as that would say to me perhaps not enough money to look after it properly Thumbs Up

If it was me I’d be looking at Nexens,,a decent mid range tyre & a good price for what they are.275/40r20’s for about £115-£120 a tyre.

I totally agree Geoff,it’s the first thing I look at when I go look at any car I’m buying,if they are budget tyres I just walk away budget tyres means budget brakes, budget servicing if it has been serviced. Its surprising how many folk come into my place with their top end cars & £240 private plates & ask for budget tyres because they can’t afford decent tyres,,But it does look good on the drive to impress the neighbors.

England

Looking for tyres I always look for the euro ratings for them

Two C's Fuel & Wet is the minimum with a nice low Noise index..

Looking on My tyres . com the following cheap tyres are better ratings than
some of the "Better Branded" ones..

Goodride SU318 H/T
275/40 R20 106V XL
C-C & 73Db

£76.30 Each

Nexen Roadian HP
275/40 R20 106V XL
C-B & 75Db

£111.10

Uniroyal RainSport 3
275/40 R20 106Y XL SUV with kerbing rib
C-A & 73Db

£133.00

But that said on a car this heavy with the winter just around the corner
I personally would look at the Uniroyal RainSport 3..

If not a set of winter tyres..

Nexen Winguard Sport
275/40 R20 106W XL RPB
C-C & 72Db

£154.30

But the choice is yours..

England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

Car came with Landsail LS588 275/40 R20 110V XL when I bought it thought I'd end up changing them, always had BFGs or general grabbers on my Disco's but pleasantly surprised good grip wet and dry not overly noisy and pulled my 2.2 ton tin tent off a muddy field when rallying over Christmas thought I'd be getting the farmers tractor to pull me off but I did it. If it ain't broken down it soon will

THE NORMAL SIZE FOR MOST SPORTS IS 275 40 20 HAVE SEEN 255 50 20 ON SOME THE PROFILE IS THE HEIGHT OF THE TYRE FROM WHERE IT TOUCHED THE ROAD TO THE RIM OF THE WHEEL THE SMALLER THE PROFILE THE HARDER THE RIDE GENERALLY Thumbs Up

Not shouting just did not realise the caps lock on till it was to late Thumbs Up

The middle number 55 or 40 is the profile,so a 255/55r20 = 55 is 55% of 255.second question to fit 255/40r20 is not advisable

Hi Andy

I assume the width has to remain the same so as to fit the wheel I have

Why can’t the profile be smaller?

Thanks 2006 RRS Supercharged 4.2 HST muthuaflecka!

If you have 20” alloys you really need to be running 255/55r20’s,,275/40r20’s or 275/45r20’s just make sure all 4 tyres are same size.what size tyres are fitted now.?
