Transmission Fault- Traction Reduced.., familiar?

I keep getting "transmission fault, traction reduced" displayed intermittently at start-up (every 3rd/4th day). It extinguishes, but apparently doesn't record on the diagnostics? The dealer tried uploading new transmission software but that wasn't successful and the "ghost" fault still continues.

Has anybody else experienced this problem or got any suggestions please? Those infernal bongs are getting to me!!! Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head

Hmm, this has come and gone a few times, this error. Normally one of those that occurs and then doesn't rear it's ugly bits for several months. You could always take the MDP route and replace the battery too... Very Happy

A bit drastic, but it would certainly cure the problem! Wink

It could be low battery voltage? The only time I saw that message was after bringing my car at a tyre shop to switch wheels. The mechanic left the key in the ignition and the headlights were on the entire time while the car was on the lift. When he was done and I restarted the engine, that message (and related "bong") popped up for a couple of seconds, then went away. I never saw it again. Get your battery checked. Either that, or something in your car may be malfunctioning and/or draining the battery overnight.

I'm almost certain it will be either a loose terminal (check first) or a gel battery that has been discharged at some point in its life. Before changing the battery it's worth asking the dealer to trickle charge with a specific charge for gel.

Good luck! Rolling Eyes TDV8 HSE in Java/Ebony with Zebrano Wood, RSE, Hybrid TV, and a few other bells and whistles.

Thanks LRS. The car's come back from the garage today without anything having been done..., apart from head-scratching! Therefore, I'll pass on your suggestion tomorrow! Thumbs Up
