Tailgate warning

Could anyone advise me how to stop warning on dash 'tailgate open' when tailgate is closed? Can't seem to find a sensor or switch! Both Tailgate functions open and close but can't get rid of warning on dash, any advise appreciated

I have this problem intermittently too. Is it a known faulty switch issue anyone please?

It may a faulty switch but is it the upper section or the lower that is causing the alarm? It isn’t unknown for the upper section to fill with rain water spray and condensation if the rubber opening handle cover gets perished. On the lower/main tailgate section check the contacts aren’t worn or dirty. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks- Yep, I’ll do both the bonnet and tailgate sensors I think as they’re both showing ‘open’ on the dash quite often since the winter weather arrived.

The bonnet sensor replacement has been covered here several times so a search should find it. The upper tailgate rubber switch cover perishes after a few years so you may need to purchase a replacement. When it failed on my both my L320’s it was replaced under warranty with a whole new upper tailgate section as it wasn’t just the switch that stopped working, the dealers found the upper plastic section half full if dirty water and all the wiring loom corroded and needing replacement, so that rubber cover needs to be watched for degradation. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ok, got the grille off and found the bonnet switch covered in greasy dirt. Once cleaned it looks like new so hopefully no more late night alarms- it went off at 00:20 last night Sad .
