Squeaky Brakes

Just had new rear brake disc and pads changed on my RRS and even after about 500miles the brakes are still squeaking.

Is this normal?

I took it back to the garage a few days ago and they had a look and said everything seems fine and that they just been bedding in.....

Absolute rubbish. They are basically saying that every brand new car will have squeaky brakes for over 500 miles as the pads are bedding in Rolling with laughter

Yeah thats what i thought Yawn

What should my next move be. tbh these guys are absolute Censored

They asked some newbie to check my rear brake discs and pads. He put the car on the ramp and nearly jacked it up too without locking the suspension FFS. Luckily I was there wathcing and had to tell the Censored Censored .

Assembly of brakes is easy really but they can squeak for many reasons and depends on when they squeal and the type of noise. I bet yours squeal when you press the pedal light to moderately. Are there any signs of copper slip on the pads? Do the calipers look to have new sacrificial shims on the contact points of the carrier?

I suspect they didn’t replace the shims (or what ever they are called) or they didn’t put copper slip on the backs of the pads to dampen the resonance. 2012 5.0 SC AB

I’ve chamfered the leading edge of pads (that don’t already have them) in the past and that also appears to help. 2012 5.0 SC AB
