United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
LR Service Plan or not - S7 service due next August?

Hi,

2012 HSE SDV6 with around 49K on the clock For the last 2 services I had signed up to the LR Service Plan - not sure if great value - cost was £1408.66?

Just had S6 and they told me that the next service (S7 @ 112K) is a big one with a cam belt change required. Quoted me £1681 at todays prices or 12 x £128.66 = £1543.92 if I sign up to another service plan. At the last service they sent me a nice video of how my discs and pads are very worn and brake flexi hoses could be changed (LR advisory - wanted £550!!).

So it looks like the next service could be a large one - any advice on whether the LR Plan is worth doing as a cam belt change is required and even at an indy it would probably be expensive. And the brakes as well I expect Sad

TIA

Steve

You better check that the brakes are covered by the service plan before signing up to it. My Sport has a 5 year service plan & was in the last year of the manufactures warranty when they flagged up front discs & hoses, just like you (co-incident or a money making scheme) My car had done only 6000miles or so. I said its under warranty so they should be covered. No they said they are wear parts so I told them to forget it. Get it in writing what they are covering or you may be Big Cry

This plan will just be for the service inc cam belt. I know that discs & pads etc. will be extra - probably a lot extra.

Has anybody ever had a service at a LR dealer where the brakes were ok...?

Rolling with laughter ...! I think they are all trained at rip-off school...

And people wonder why we all dislike dealers.

Don’t fall for their rubbish, find a good Indy and be done with these idiots.

I also

Got the warning so I went in to collect and asked for the technician who had come back with this comment. I then proceeded to show him that he was a money pinching thief because I had just changed the disks and pads for new Brembo items. I then complained to the head of servicing who apologised stating he got the cars mixed up Censored Censored

The new items were about £200 from Europarts (discount code) and I did it myself. The cambelt is due in 2 weeks and being done for £1250 discounted also by £200 by service manager after I showed him a dealer in Crewe doing a similar deal, not Disco Mikey prices but again like the reporter he's 500 miles from me Big Cry Big Cry
