'Suspention Fault' Max Speed 30MPH.

After getting an air suspention compressor replaced a few weeks back due to car leaning to the left, 4 weeks ago my MY 08 RRS has been in the garage having new software installed, new height sensors fitted and still I'm getting ' suspention fault Max Speed 30 mph and it lowers so wheel is nearly touching the arches.im at a total loss anyone have any advice as to what the issue may be?

Has it been completely recalibrated? With that much work it probably needs a full calibration.

What fault codes do you get? What values do you get on the diagnostic tool? 2012 5.0 SC AB

Dropping to the bumps stops is indicative of a cross axle error - fault code C1A0762 - the system thinks a pair of opposite wheels is high and the other low. This is an unsafe configuration, obviously, so it drops the suspension to make it safe to drive at low speed. When it happens, it's rather unnerving - BTDT on a dual carriageway at 70mph!

Start off with an EAS full calibration. That should sort it out as it's probably an incorrect or corrupted calibration.

If it doesn't then you're in to checking connections and ensuring wires aren't damaged, no damage to sensors or their brackets, no air leaks etc. as they can all cause the error too. Check the plug in to the Air Suspension Control Module too - it's up behind the dash on the driver's side and accessed via the footwell. Relatively easy to get to. I had a spurious error caused by a loose wire in that module plug - I reckon someone had pulled on the harness when releasing the plug.

Obviously, checking the calibration first is the easiest thing to do. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for your reply Brit Plumber, I've just had a call from the garage saying he's done a calibration, yesterday and that he needs to do another one today, maybe that could be the full calibrate that you just mentioned.
Hope this sorts out the issue, as it's spent more time in the garage than on my drive since I bought it 4 months ago. Thanks for your advice mate 👍 Updated sat nav

Thank you for your advice RRSTDV8 I shall pass this onto the garage in case the calibration does not do the job. Much appreciated 👍 Updated sat nav

One thing to remember about the calibration (not sure if your garage is an LR specialist) is that the calibration figures held by the Air Suspension Module are not ride height figures. They are just a number that the system uses as a base figure. You will find that each corner has a figure and that each of them is different. This is normal. Don't try to get the figures to be the same - doing so will likely cause the cross axle fault.

Your base calibration might show: FL 205 FR 197 RL 213 RR 208. Each of those is not a height - it's just a starting datum. When in off road setting, you'd find each of them would be +50: FL 255 FR 247 etc.

Having found the base settings, you measure your actual ride height at each corner and then adjust each figure as necessary to get your level ride height. You might find that you want to increase the ride height on one corner e.g. RL (rear left) by 15mm so you'd add 15 to the base figure to give 228.

Bear in mind that the system doesn't keep the wheels at exactly the required ride height at all times - there is an allowance of +/-10mm (I think). This is to stop the system working constantly and wearing out the compressor. Trying to get an exactly level ride height within 10mm is likely to be fraught with annoyance and failure. Provided you're wearing your tyres evenly, I wouldn't worry about a little variation in ride height across the vehicle when it's parked up. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

UPDATE !! The issue i had is 90% fixed, he's fitted a tempory hight sensor to the front left, so it's stopped the suspention lowering and the 'max speed 30 mph has gone. The parts been ordered and due to be fitted on tuesday. Took it out for a drive today and there didnt seem to be any dramas, except now when i drive it im constantly looking for warning signs on the dash to appear. Its going to take a while before i can trust it fully again, if you know what i mean !! Thank you to each and everyone of you for your valuable input, and your detailed responses to my post. Regards Wayne. Updated sat nav

After my temporary fix on the front hight sensor, my new one was due to be fitted on friday morning by a Land rover specialist, but unfortunately when I came to the car to set off all four corners are at what appears to be easy access mode (wheels nearly touching the rims) and I'm getting no response from the hight adjuster on the centre console (it's not raising at all) just getting 'suspension fault' on the dash. So the RAC are booked for Monday morning as it's undrivable at the moment. Gut feeling is it's not the height sensor that's the problem, I think it may be the air suspension compressor again.. thoughts please ? Updated sat nav
