Scotland 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

What would the price or availability be of a second hand SDV6 3.0 ?

yes, but that one will also be prone to breaking its crank.

JLR won't commit to a guarantee that the issue has been fixed, so does one keep replacing engines as the cranks break? Shocked --

The point is though, how much is it ? Andy was quoting a 2.7 I thought.

The risks are known.

I've seen figures of £15k for a new 3.0. £5k would be "ok", in my view, for a new engine. £15k is taking the proverbial and is just indicative of LR's attitude to parts prices and the huge profits they can pull out of them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

15k is ridiculous. Was thinking 2nd hand or exchange. Agree half of 15k would still be very steep.

I think the problem is that LR control supply of the engines and their parts so they set the prices. In terms of a second hand unit, finding a Sport/Disco that has been written off but not killed the engine in the process could be time consuming. As for a reconditioned unit, I'm not sure LR make the parts available so no one can recon a 3.0 (or a TDV8 / SC) properly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

yes a LR 3.0 replacement is a lot more than a 2.7 replacement

Recon 2.7 is £4095+VAT

Recon 3.0 is £10165+VAT

Which is ludicrous, given they are essentially the same engine Censored

Which reputable companies are doing the recon units D_M? Are these only through LR? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The price difference 2.7 to 3.0 is mental. I suppose they aren't interchangeable then, if you kill a 3.0 drop in a 2.7 ? The 2.7 price is enough....

When the one I sold snapped the crank at 33000miles FLRSH (my14 sdv6) the guy who bought it was quoted 18.k + vat for a new engine at LR dealers in Cheshire.

The 2.7 must be heavily discounted due to the age of car it goes in.

Why would one want a 2.7? The 3.0 is a bit tardy after my old TDV8 - the 2.7 would feel like being on a push bike! Whistle Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
