yes, but that one will also be prone to breaking its crank. JLR won't commit to a guarantee that the issue has been fixed, so does one keep replacing engines as the cranks break? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport Supercharged V8 HSE Dynamic Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

15k is ridiculous. Was thinking 2nd hand or exchange. Agree half of 15k would still be very steep. |

I think the problem is that LR control supply of the engines and their parts so they set the prices. In terms of a second hand unit, finding a Sport/Disco that has been written off but not killed the engine in the process could be time consuming. As for a reconditioned unit, I'm not sure LR make the parts available so no one can recon a 3.0 (or a TDV8 / SC) properly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Which reputable companies are doing the recon units D_M? Are these only through LR? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The price difference 2.7 to 3.0 is mental. I suppose they aren't interchangeable then, if you kill a 3.0 drop in a 2.7 ? The 2.7 price is enough.... |

When the one I sold snapped the crank at 33000miles FLRSH (my14 sdv6) the guy who bought it was quoted 18.k + vat for a new engine at LR dealers in Cheshire.

The 2.7 must be heavily discounted due to the age of car it goes in. |

Why would one want a 2.7? The 3.0 is a bit tardy after my old TDV8 - the 2.7 would feel like being on a push bike! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
