RR Sport roof aerial

Hi! Does anyone know if you still get the little aerial/fin on the roof of a new '07 RR Sport SE if you do not order the bluetooth telephone option? I have been told by the dealer that you do not get it but other people have said it has nothing to do with the bluetooth telephone kit. After hearing other members say the bluetooth option is crap, i am considering ordering the car without it and getting a TomTom go 910 instead.. Views anyone?

If you have the sat nav option you will get the fin. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I thought the aerial/fin was primarily for the Sat Nav.

Bluetooth relies on the phones internal aerial for the "radio" side of the function, bluetooth provides the audio connection.

However the phone adaptor that fits in the cubby box and is an option on Bluetooth equipped cars does have an aerial connector on it and it makes sense as by hiding the phone in the cubby box you would have poor reception on the phones own aerial.

Not sure about the 2007 model, but for the 2006 model neither the S nor the SE gets the roof fin by default as both the PTI and SatNav are options. The roof fin is used for both the SatNav and the PTI as far as I'm aware, so if you spec either you should get the roof fin.

I'm not so sure the BT option is crap... more like there is a set of phones that work well and plenty more that aren't so well supported. But then this isn't LR being underhand; they publish a list of supported phones and you're on your own if you use a phone that isn't supported (but plenty work that aren't supported).

Lastly, you seem to mention you won't order BT and will get a TomTom instead, did you mean you won't order the factory SatNav?

No sat Nav - no fin! You can fit the fin, some come up on ebay for about £70.00 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

But if you spec PTI and use a cradle, do you not get the external aerial facility? (Regardless of whether you spec SatNav or not)

My first D3 only had the Premium sat nav and did not have the fin but my present D3 has both the premium sat nav and the pti kit which means I have the fin on the roof. However the external arial is only used if you use the cradle.

I would guess that this would be the same on the RRS

The fin picks up the GPS for the sat nav and like shmoogle said unless you use the cradle with the PTI you don't use the fin!

So if you use just the bluetooth mode like me you will just be using the phone signal and the fin will have nowt so do with it RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

Did you spec PTI? If you did, then you have it.

If you don't know - use your phone to search for devices and it should "see" the car Very Happy

Right then, where do I start? There are a few people getting a little confused by the sounds of things.

aam1234 - The easiest way of telling if your vehicle has the PTI installation is by looking at your steering wheel. If it has the red and green telephone paddle switches on the righthand side of the centre boss, you have PTI. No switches - no PTI.

Any vehicle which has satnav or PTI will have a roof fin. But as some of you have already said, the phone aerial will only work if you are using the phone cradle in the cubby box lid. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
