Cd player problem

Has anybody had "invalid disc" come up on the cd player screen, this happens whilst a shop bought music cd (not a copy) is playing, the player then freezes and tells you to eject the disc,
Does anyone have a similar problem
Thanks in advance

You likely have dirt on the CD pick up lens.
Unfortunately, this isn’t some random fleck of dust that one of those cleaning CD’s with tiny brushes will shift, it will need a strip down and cleaning with some solvent on the end of a cotton bud. The dirt build up comes with years of dust getting in to your CD player, mixing with condensation on cold mornings and forming a sticky dirty layer on vital parts such as the pick up lens or laser lens.
Remove the unit and strip & clean is the way forward. Thumbs Up

Well, took the stereo unit out and cleaned the lens unit which to be fair was clean, put it all back together and refitted.
Played about 4 tracks then froze again, says "invalid disc" the only way forward then is to eject the disc.

Any suggestions most welcome.

If it was all clean inside, not just the lens and pickup, but I’m guessing you could also see the transport was clean too, then the likely outcome is a faulty unit. Could be time to bite the bullet and buy another one. Confused

It looked clean, nothing obvious, its almost as if the wrong type of cd like a playstation etc disc has been inserted to give the invalid disc message
I take it by transport you mean the spiral rod the laser runs along.
Thanks again for your input
