New emission bindings- advice

I’m considering the upgrade options on a disco or a RRS but I noticed that most dealers were being vague over the changes in the emissions grading that is being reviewed in September 18. Looking on Google there is this article which if I read right the road tax increase is significant!

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.expres ... l-cars/amp
So basically a Disco with 199 of Co2 emission would be:
191 - 225 g/km CO2
CURRENT RATE: £1,200
FROM APRIL 2018:£1,700

So is this tire? Anyone ordered one and what are the dealers saying? I’m confused by these changes and it seems that people will be priced out of having a nice car that they are passionate about which feels a bit unfair. 2014 Range Rover Evoque Dynamic Coupe in black

I am far from an expect but this is my understanding so far...

There are two things to consider for the September changes, the new WLTP emission test (http://wltpfacts.eu/what-is-wltp-how-will-it-work/) and the governments changes to the VED bands.

The WLTP test is intended to give more realistic figures by changing the way vehicles are tested AFAIK the values quoted on the LR configurators are the new emissions figures. They have tweaked the maps to a number of vehicles, for example the SDv8 has dropped from 6.5 seconds 0-60 to 6.8 seconds.

The VED changes took effect back in April and in essence the government moved the bands along one so each band increased in price.

Hope this helps?

What I don't get from around the EU is that they all band Euro6 the same regardless of if it has the new WLTP thing on it

Think its Euro6B to Euro6C ? (Not sure)

So is this just a warmup for Euro 7 to get all the car manufacturers prepared ?

All European cities so far lump all Euro 6 diesels in the same group emissions wise (somewhere just above the middle) so not sure what these changes are going to do unless anyone else knows?
