New member looking for advice

Hello All
I've just joined the forum as I'm considering a 2016/7 RRS and wanted to pick the brains of anyone happy to have their brains picked.
Like anyone, I'm looking for the best deal I can find and, like some, I don't have 'new car' budget. I've been also considering a Velar D240/D300 with FCAS but aren't sure what the benefit would be for nearly the same price.
One late 2016 RRS I was looking at confused me as the instrument panel was virtual (LCD) but the 'infotainment' (hate that word) LCD is smaller than later models. Was there a period when the instrument panel went virtual but the centre screen was not updated? And how does that affect which screen does what? Later models appear to allow satnav to display on the instrument LCD but is that only possible with the updated centre LCD?
I've also seen issues relating to crankshafts. Does this affect a late 2016 SDV6 engine?
Anything else I should be watching out for?
All pointers/advice/answers gratefully received.

TIA
Andy

Oh, and PS.
Even though we all really know that diesel isn't the devil's semen that it's portayed to be (with Adblue/DPF etc.) what's the concensus on how it will effect residuals now that many different all-electric cars will start flooding the market in the next few years??

Hi

AFAIK the dual screen centre console and virtual dash came in on MY18 vehicles.

Can't comment on the crankshaft issue for diesels as I have a SC variant.
