RRS 2007 - Loud bang/snap, then complete engine loss

Hey,

Had a breakdown last week that went down as follows:

Was 5 minutes into the journey, traffic was medium and I go up to maybe 50, there was then a loud bang/snap sounded like almost something hit the underside after but I'm not sure. After this, briefly flashed up transmission fault, limted gears, F in the gear selection and complete loss of power as well as lowering the car at the same time, managed to coast to the left lane. Then had to get recovered.

I haven't got a diagnostic plug in available yet hoping to get that soon from a freind. Any clues from the above what it could be?

It won't start up, cranks makes the right noises in trying to turn up flashes the glow plug light and thats it. No system faults on clicking through the key on system check.

Checked the oil on the dipstick, there is an amount of oil under the car by the sump but I've had a small leak so unsure if this was there before. Also a clearish liquid dripping underneath by the driver side wing, can't locate where it was coming from though.

Thanks in advance.

England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

2007 diesel v6 cars are prone to oil pump casing failure.
The cambelt timing is then lost

I would examine the front belt cover on the drivers side.
See if something has tried to escape
