I assume that 'phase 4' is a very recent update as my car is only 2 weeks old ? 2018 Range Rover Sport P400e Autobiography

Booked my car in for the Phase 4 infotainment update and the potential blank dashboard recall in a few weeks. I’m a bit nervous, because my car has been fault free for 18 months and I read so many stories of woe on this forum!

Interesting reading, I've only had my MY18 for a couple of months and thankfully all working OK bar the wireless charger not charging Android devices but if I wanted this Phase 4 software update is it a chargeable visit?

And if so anyone know approx how much? I don't mind paying for it if it in turn enables OTA updates as that should in theory reduce further visits + it may fix the Android charging issue.

I have had multiple updates at no charge. Just make sure you report a problem that may be fixed by the update. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Thanks for the quick response, booked in for the software upgrade next Thursday (was told it takes 4 hours, is very comprehensive and will change the UI).

There are a couple of small things that are fixed by it (niggles really) that I have but not really been fussed so hopefully it'll be beneficial overall but if works correctly for OTA updates and kicks the wireless charger into life then happy days Smile

(EDITED UPDATE)

Same here. Mine has been fault free since taking delivery on 1 March and I am reluctant to have any software updates applied. However, the longer it gets left I guess the risk of problems increase by jumping several upgrades as upgrades are usually build on top of the last version?

Nice one, did it add the OTA "check for updates" option to the menu?

Mine is going in soon so I'll have it on mine as well hopefully !

Doesn't seem to do much on my mates car though.

Wonder how big an update is ?

Apparently on the MY19 cars with the Land Rover sim the updates are zero-data and don't count against your limit.

Us MY18 chaps will have to pay for it I guess !!

The Phase 4 update takes around four hours to complete so quite comprehensive and fixes numerous issues.

I've been told it changes the UI and as others have mentioned it adds OTA updates which is much better than waiting until next service or having to book an appointment.

Not sure how MY19 vehicles can incur zero data cost? I know JLR supply the SIM but data transfer still has a size cost associated with unless of course they top up the user SIM remotely post-upgrade to compensate.
