Nokia 6230 & RRS

I was hoping for a little help. I have just bought the cradle for my Nokia 6230 but how do I get the phone book from the nokia to the car? I'm probably missing something but I thought that this is possible. Everything else works perfectly.

Thanks in advance 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Very Annoyed,
If you place your phone in the cradle it should automatically allow you to access the phone book, either through the menu button on the right hand side of the stereo controls or you can scroll using the steering wheel controls (this method displays the name and number alternatively in the dash info sreen below the speedo. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Have you paired your phone the bluetooth way. Even though bluetooth does not have to be on for the cradle connection to work it may be worth a try.
I know when I place mine in the cradle it almost instantly comes on the stereo screen and says phone connected. Is the phone sat in the cradle correctly? Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

I have had the phone previously connected via bluetooth so when my wife gets back with the RRS (yes I know I shouldn't let her drive it) I will switch the bluetooth off and put it back in the cradle and see what happens. (fingers crossed) 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

The phone book synch ONLY works via the cradle. And as Biggles says, it should "just work" as soon as you connect the phone into the cradle. Do you actually get a "Phone connected" message on the stereo screen when you fit the phone into the cradle? I wonder if the cradle is correctly fitted into place?

I have the same trouble with my wife, Very Annoyed... my current work means I don't actually need to leave home for any reason, so my wife has decided she'll take it to work and back every day. As long as I still pay for the fuel, of course! Rolling Eyes

Still no luck. I have switched the bluetooth off on the phone. Is there a system reset on the RRS? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Hmm... I take it all the other functions of the PTI work ok? You can still make/receive calls over the cradle and via Bluetooth? Your only problem is with the address book?

How's about this: where does your phone store your address book? On the phone or in the SIM card? What happens if you copy your address book from the phone to SIM (or vice versa)? Maybe the PTI will only read address books from a particular location on the phone. My address book is held on the SIM and I know that works...

If none of this works - do you know anyone with another 6230 that you could try with? Then last resort I suppose would be to suggest that the cradle is faulty in some way - but I'd expect that would impact your ability to make & receive calls (if indeed you can do that).

Cheers

shmoogle you are correct .

The 6230 that I had in my S4 cab would only work/access the phone book when in the cradle if the phone itself was set to using the " sim memory " and not the phone memory.

I think you will find this is the problem

Will try the above options however after I made a call earlier all seemed to be working, but when I stopped and started the car again 10 minutes later the same problem is happening - very strange Confused Confused Confused 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Sorry to be the fly in the ointment but my 6230 is set to use the phone memory, I have nothing on the SIM at all.

As everyone has said, once you place the phone successfully in the cradle it should register instantly and confirm so on the radio screen. The cradle connection should also supercede any bluetooth connection.

Let us know how you get on. L319 D4 HSE

I have to agree with RRUK, I use both sim and phone memory to store numbers and have no problems with connection. Are you sure it is a 6230 and not a 6230i the latter is not supported yet. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Landrover also advocate that only certain software versions of the 6230 OS work with the PTI interface. However, my phone is not on the 'correct' version but still works ok. You can find this list on the Ladrover website or if you do a search on this forum, no doubt someone has posted it before.

I'd say the best bet in the short term is to get another 6230 from a friend or relative and try that, if the phone works you know its something to do with your handset. Go through a process of elimination. The fact you say it worked, then didn't suggest you may have an iffy handset. L319 D4 HSE

I have all the correct software and the correct phone. I will be trying another Nokia 6230 tomorrow so fingers crossed. The very nice people at Land Rover had the gall to say that the system is not designed to read the phonebook from the phone! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
