England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Cool box/fridge

With the hot weather upon us I decided to have my air con re-gassed yesterday , and fit the cubby box fridge I bought 12 months ago Rolling Eyes

My question is .... Is the fridge supposed to switch off automatically after the ignition is turned off ?
If I don’t switch the little green light switch off , mine seems to run indefinitely ? And I’m wondering if I’ve done something wrong like I usually do Rolling with laughter
And would this not drain the battery ?
Thanks for any help/suggestions

Devon

Mine certainly turn off with the ignition, although it is a facelift but I don't think that should make any difference.

Cheers

Cheers Col
Im just concerned that if I forget to turn it off , I’ll return to the car with a flat battery ?
I don’t think I did anything wrong, the plug I eventually found was wrapped in some grey foam and only fits in one way
Maybe the fridge is faulty ??? But it is cold , and now full of Red Bull Thumbs Up

Mine does not turn off with the ignition and yes it will drain the battery in about 18 hours if left on. Last month I parked the car at 8 in the evening and left a map light and the fridge on and the car would not start at 11 the next day. Battery still had enough power to unlock the car, light up the dash and do a slow turn on the starter but not enough to fire the car and after the first go - nothing.

The fridge does work well though.

Thanks Garry
I’ll just have to remember to turn it off
It’s been running for the last 3 hours , but I have my ctek connected just in case. The fridge works really well . It’s a lot colder than I thought it would be , so all in all I’m really pleased with it Thumbs Up

Strange. My old 08MY TDV8 used to turn the cooler cubby off when the ignition was off as does my 2012 SDV6. I seem to remember they did change the design of the cooler because of this issue. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Cheers RRSTDV8 Thumbs Up

Did they change the design so it stays on ??
I’m pretty sure the fridge I bought from the bay of fleas was from a MY10 , so maybe that’s why it doesn’t turn off with the ignition. But it does fit and works perfectly .

No problems on a 2012 sdv6 in terms of draining battery.

Sorry, probably should have been clearer. If I stop and switch off with it running it has never killed my battery. In fact a few times I have forgotten it was on until noticing the subtle noise it makes when you are stopped in traffic for example.

I've just been out to mine (MY17), which has a factory fitted coolbox with a green light in the switch. It hasn't been used all day, the light is out (despite being switched on) and the cool box is at "room" temperature. On switching on the ignition, the green light illuminates. Mine is left permanently switched in the on position, with a couple of cans of diet coke and a couple of bottles of water in there, and I have never suffered from a flat battery even after leaving the car at the airport for a week whilst on holiday. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

This will probably confuse matters but mine has a blue light and I'm sure it does not switch off with the ignition but maybe some time after the ignition is switched off.

I haven't used it for a while as it's full of other bits but when I do I'll update this post. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?
