To paint, or not to paint?

I've just picked up a set of these via eBay.

Silver car with headlamp guards.

Do I paint them silver, or leave as is?

Leave as is. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

That's as unanimous as a Russian presidential election, so I'll leave them as they are.

Thumbs Up

IIRC the screws that Land Rover supplies when they were new are mild steel........... might be worth replacing them with stainless to avoid rust streaks. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Flippin' eck - most of the instructions are for changes to the wiring, and all over the car at that. Goodness knows how Land Rover manage the different configurations of looms. When I had Saabs, their was one loom per model and some connectors just weren't used. Want heated seats? find the connectors and plug in the heat pads and switch. Want fog lamps? Find the connectors and plug in the lamps.

Just for clarity - what are you wanting to paint? Lights or guards or both?

If its lights - paint them.

Methinks some of the other posters were looking at the grills and commenting on them Rolling with laughter

There is quite a lot of work to get the lights attached/working - I got someone to do it...

Definitely better painted - in fact they're the only clean bit of the car. The light protectors are the original colour (they are going to get a coat of Zambezi Silver).

Just need to find someone to edit the CCF file so that the driving lights work. Rolling Eyes

Looking good Hugh Thumbs Up

You will find that the driving lights seem to provide a bit more "height" to the beam, which is useful, especially on undulating roads. You might want to look at replacing the bulbs with LED ones, so look at THIS THREAD and believe me, works brilliantly.

I had LRR in Charlton, SE7 wire my lights, so I know they can do what's necessary to get yours to work, though a bit of a trip into town for you maybe.
