United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver
Noise on Full Lock

OK, so my TDV8 has been well behaved for a while. However, cos its hot, I had the windows open and noticed this sound on full lock as I pulled into my drive. Its not a particularly high kerb or anything - just a normal drop kerb to cross the pavement.

Video is to record the noise rather than viewing anything. Any ideas gratefully received as I'm off to Scotland in a weeks time.

Iv'e heard of dry bump-stops making a graunching sound, but this sounds like more of a click on my lap top. CV joints can click on lock when shot.

It happens at the point the wheel goes up the drop Kurb so to me it must be related to the front right suspension bushes or damper unit. I’d be tempted (never done this though) to squirt soapy water on to one bush at a time and repeating the same turn onto your drive to see if the noise changes. If it does, you’ve found the issue. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Cheers guys. Thanks for the thoughts.

I might see if I can get it to my indie this week just to check it out and , if its significant, hopefully they can fix it for me Robin

Got it to my indie at Heathfield yesterday afternoon and immediately Leigh knew what if was. He's even checked out my You Tube recording as well - how's that for preparation. So the clanking sound was cured with a dollop of grease each side on the lower front suspension arm. On full lock it can foul but nothing serious. My offside arm is a pattern arm and Leigh suggested that it may be slightly out as regards measurement ( the nearside one is LR). Grease goes here:

The car had also developed the annoying squeak from the anti-roll bars, so whilst he was on the case Leigh squirted copious amounts of WD 40 on them and all is now well.

Fantastic service Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Robin

My bad, when I said bump stops, I actually meant steering stops Embarassed .Failed miserably in the communication dept I'm afraid.
Glad you got it sorted for not a lot of the folding stuff.
