Which tracker do you have?

Hi All

I’m looking for a tracker for my new RRS MY18 that arrives next week. I had a Cobra/Vodafone tracker previously on my Q7.

Which have you got / which would you advise me to get?

Thanks

The built in one (incontrol secure).

I wouldn’t want another one, especially with some kind of additional fob that you have to carry around but keep separate to your key. I’d just change insurance company if they insisted on something else. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I have a Vodafone /Cobra tracker fitted on my MY14 RRS which I had fitted from new and bought a 5 year subscription deal. When this runs out next year Vodafone will only do a one year sub and the cost of that is similar to a Ghost immobiliser. So will likely do that instead. With all the issues of the ease with which RRS are pinched an immobilser seems a better solution than trying to recover it after the event.

It's a MY18, so it comes free (included in purchase price) for the first 3 years. Only after that do you have to pay, by which time the car may be traded in for something else. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I have this model fitted a "TRACKER CAT 5 PLUS" and I am very happy with both its performance, and the extremely quick notifications I have received re possible theft/damage. I also took out a 3 year monitoring/membership as it cost less than two years! John

Pity that the Sport has an airbag and controls on the steering wheel, i’ve Just had this system fitted to my Defender - a removable steering wheel with a steering boss security locking device that once locked just spins / freewheels if thief tries to use a wrench to steer - that is the orange device in the last photo.
If any Defender or Series Landy owner (or any other car without an air bag like most classic cars) is interested drop me a PM and I will send you a link to the maker, they make them to fit 36 and 48 spline steering wheel bosses too. They are motoring racing parts manufacturers and are not cheap but fantastic quality, you do need to buy the Momo steering wheel to go with the system unfortunately. In total it cost me £490 fitted.

I have Smartrack Protector pro on both my cars RR Sport and BMW4 both cat6, insurance company quite happy and had very good support from install to speed of responses from the incident teams

Sold my cars now and do double header to BMW and remembered they are transferable so £64 each car much more palatable than buying another two units

Worth to check if your buying that the units are transferable 👍

Same on the two new cars X5 M50d and an M4 insurance company was fine with cat6
