ACC/Front Winch Compatibility

Evening All,,

Wondering if what I have been told is correct ??

The G4 when into the dealers yesterday for a couple of things, noisy Vicious fan & knock on the r/h front suspension (ball joint ? !!! ), Both of which are on to be sorted

Whilst there, ask them to look at the active cruise/front park sensors, as both not working, only to be told, that since a front winch is fitted, they have to disable the cruise !!

Has anyone seen the G4 accessories brochure ?, does it say, if you have a front winch, you can not have cruise ? anyone heard of this before ?? 997 TT, RR TDV8 Vog SE 90 V8 Hybrid

TJ101 - I think they might be telling the truth. I can see why it would disrupt the ACC in the same way that the bush bars do. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

No idea - maybe they were too lazy to chance the ECU! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Anyway I think the Adaptive CC is fun for the first 1000 miles but I know a few owners have got p***ed off with the thing - too sensitive especially when you pass large coaches = sudden loss of speed. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Im pretty sure TFC has front sensors with the winch, if memory serves me correctly it knocks 2 sensors out but not all. TJ101 are you someone else on LROI forum?

The sensors arn't the problem, you're right 2 should work if programmed correctly. The ACC is the problem. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

TCF ?? another member ? The dealer is telling me, the winch is in the place of the sensors ?? so whats behind the box on the lh side ??
Have asked the dealer to speak to Special vehicles, also got customer relations to speak to the dealer as no one seams to be talking to each other

Pelyma,, no, not i, not on LRO much,, LR4X4, is better for me Smile 997 TT, RR TDV8 Vog SE 90 V8 Hybrid

Pelyma - you're confusing PDC with ACC - the ACC (adaptive cruise control) uses a radar unit in the lower front grille opening of the RRS which is probably blocked by the winch fitment Sad Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Correct Martin, the sensor is to the r/h side of the winch,as you look at it,
must be about 3 inch to the right, so can not see how it impeeds the view ??, but the winch does protude futher by about a inch or so !! 997 TT, RR TDV8 Vog SE 90 V8 Hybrid

The radar probably has a wide angle sensor, and would pick up radar reflections straight off the winch. The ACC would probably think that you're a couple of inches from the car infront Wink

You might be able to move the ACC 'box' forward clear of the bumper? Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Well. i could as last restort,,
The way i see it,, If landrover market and sell a front winch to fit your RRS,
or you bought a vehicle (from landrover) you would expect it to work !!
i could maybe understand, if a 3rd party fitted any type of winch !!

At the monment, the ACC, Front park control & front winch are disarmed !!

Also somewhere, there must be a master switch for the cellanoid which is retro fitted, down behide the battery !! 997 TT, RR TDV8 Vog SE 90 V8 Hybrid

If that doesn't work, could they just take out the ACC module and restore the
"regular" cruise control functions in your car? I imagine it would just be a matter of uploading some software patch - and you would end up with a useless button or two in the cabin, but it's still better than no CC at all. If I didn't have cruise every time I drive to Vegas from Los Angeles, I'd probably rent a car. Wink

I was also told that winches cannot be fitted on Supercharged models, regardless of whether ACC is present or not, since they interfere with airflow to the intercooler down there.
