Is Siri available on MY2019 RRS

I think I will be changing over from an X5 to a RRS shortly. Just wondering if you can use Siri on the RRS like I can on the X5?
On the X5, it’s just a long press on the voice activation button on the steering wheel.
Also, do I need to spec the £200 Apple Car Play option when ordering, or is it already included as part of the 2019 spec? I’ve
looked in the relevant thread, but can’t quite make out if it’s included or not.
Cheers
Chris

According to the LR website it is a £200 option, but members here have had it applied as a retro fit, sooooooo basis that it can be applied as a software patch for £200 or fitted on the production line again fir £200. I would say two things - use it as a negotiating point for a £200 discount and from my own experience of ACP in a BMW Mini it is not worth paying £200 extra for as it is a complete faff to use. E.G. when I want to use my phone and ACP has control of the system I get a message to follow the instructions on my phone’s screen............. not useful when driving, so I then inhibit ACP and use the hands free the conventional way.
Regarding “Siri” - do you mean voice activation to dial the phone or set a destination in the satnav? I can still use voice activation when ACP is in use. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the response.

At the moment I use Siri to send text messages and locate local places like shops and restaurants etc. Its a short press on the BMW to instruct the car to do something and a long press to initiate Siri on the display. It works quite well and I don't think I have any additional options on the car to make it work.

Sounds like I should forget about car play, especially if its £200 and doesn't actually achieve much. I presume I can still play the music through the car stereo from my apple phone, but will the artwork, song title, album name appear in the display?

You can use it to stream music from iTunes or saved on your phone , stream internet radio, navigate using Apple Maps, it will even display SMS messages as well as a host of apps that are on your phone. It also uses your data to do so so you need a big data allowance if you intend to use it all the time for data services. Personally I could easily live without it as i’m Happy just to use DAB or FM radio and anyway in the area of Scotland i’m in as soon as I go 10 miles further notth there is no 4G and little 3g so it’s useless anyway! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Data is so cheap these days. I have a SIM only deal with a certain provider 27 quid a month unlimited calls text and data. Data can also be tethered to laptop/shared as a hotspot.

Not for everything unlimited, including tethering. I no longer need home broadband or line rental.

It does indeed, per my first post. Unlimited data, both in terms of use on the phone itself, but also tethering the phone to my laptop or sharing my data access by using my phone as a hotspot.
