MY16 - InCar Audio - annoying issues

Hi All,

So been living with the car now for 3 weeks - hoping for some input on some annoying issues with the in-car sound system (I have the mid-range Meridian and rear entertainment):

* DAB tuner doesn't pick up all the stations - especially the London DAB group - assume this is a known issue, any recommendations on how to fix ? new amplified antenna ?

* DVD drive doesn't eject (historic issue from previous owner) so will get addressed under warranty

* AV input in centre armrest storage - any recommendations on how to play video files through the USB ? Assume limited to WMA format - grateful for any links to software which allows conversion of videos to this format. I tried an MP4 USB - nothing.

* AV input - headphone type socket - would be keen to hear how you all have managed to input a video source through this input - mainly for rear entertainment screens for my 3 year old

* Mid-Range Meridian sound system - surprisingly good sound, although really bad door rattle from both the front doors at mid-volume (will see what dealer can do via warrant route - otherwise, will take to an audio specialist to get the doors fitted with Dynomatt padding

* Bluetooth and USB audio streaming works well - although I don't have the inControl apps so Spotify plays via the phone application

Thanks in advance for your input / feedback.

Prashan

RTFM.....DAB working

Right, so I now know what the AUTOTUNE button does - managed to find all the local DAB channels and a happy (yet feeling stupid) RRS owner....

Juts need to get after the other items now...

Never worry about asking what you think might be a stupid question here - there will be a hundred lurkers and doubtless a few members all trying to find out the same info. It is also amazing how when you do read the manual and you think you are fully gen’d up about the car’s systems there is always something that you cannot find in the manual but somebody else knows it’s there and where to find it. When I first had my current car I couldn’t figure out what the plastic tube was in the spare wheel well........... turned out after posting a photo of what I thought was a tool left in the car during build was the diesel misfuelling reset device........ on my previous two RRS’s the reset tool was a flat yellow plastic thing with a pointy bit on it, I knew that but the design had changed from 2013 and the L494 introduction. Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Wonder what the DVD stuck in the drive will reveal about the previous owner when you get it fixed! I wonder if we need a poll?!

Thanks guys...will give it a go.

Previous owners kids had mucked around with a DVD and got it stuck - don’t think the mechanism fully recovered and wasn’t changed...tell tale marks on their silver trim near the gearbox indicating work done to remedy in the past,

P

Thanks all.

Worked a treat - using 4K Downloader App to rip the children’s TV shows from YouTube then the DIV X converter software (which comes free with the Div X Downloader) - useful tips about not playing HD - even 720p...chose the next Lower resolution option - Home Theatre (1028x720) - worked fine and quality acceptable.

Love this forum...hours of endless entertainment on a 32GB USB stick...the DVD player can remain broken....although booked in for warranty work in a few weeks.

Rgds

Rear screens and videos front USB - another annoying issue

Per last post, very happy I got the USB videos working - and there was me thinking I can select the front USB as a REAR Source - NOPE....

Read some old posts which suggest front USB for front screen only and rear USB for rear screens only and can't play sounds through speakers - has to be headphone only....so disappointed.

So close, yet so far.....

Tim, I couldn't have summed up the value of this forum any better. Spot on!
