EGR Problems

Hi guys,

New to the forum Very Happy

I've got a problem with my EGR's (who hasn't) I'm getting the engine management light and the message 'exhaust gas recirculation control circuit A high' This is shown as 2 faults but show the exact same message/code.

The EGR valves were replaced in 2015 at 49,000 miles, the car was used and was fine but it has only recently started to be used again after been parked up for around 8 months.

The car is currently on 57,000 miles, it's a 57 plate 2.7 tdv6.

I was thinking of selling her soon but it needs to be right.

Thank you!

Wish I had, was told it couldn’t be done on my year.

I’m hoping it’s something simple and I can get some use of the new ones after what we paid !

While i would normally recommend blanking the egrs it is now technically illegal and the car will not pass an mot test if the egr has found to be tampered with.
With the recent rule change most testers are being extra vigilant. So probably better to fix it . Also engine lights are also now am instant mot fail .

It’s always technically been illegal to tamper with emissions systems.

However, easy enough to blank with a shim, so keeps the pipework in place. That’s how I’ve done all of my customers blanking.

Yours needs a software update to stop the eml coming on (which is an mot fail)

Cheaper to blank and remap than it is to replace the EGRs and the MOT testers will never be able to tell. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
