Suspension Air Compressor

First time I've had air suspension, is it normal for the compressor to run on engine start up? all air systems I have had contact with are able to hold air for a reasonable period of time, I'm concerned that I might have a leak or do these systems generally leak?

Not sure if this helps but, on mine if you turn off the engine (whilst at normal height) then about a minute or so later the car settles by about half an inch. I believe I was told that this is to remove a bit of the pressure in the suspension system. So conversely when you start up again, the car will regain that half an inch loss.

Have you looked at the display on the dash board? Each wheel has a little line above it indicating its height. If any of these little lines are flashing red that indicates that the wheel is not quite right (or the sensor is wrong). Try that in all three positions Access Normal and Off-Road and see if you get any red lines. I believe the perceived wisdom on this forum is that if you get any red lines whilst in Access height, then not to worry. Robin

The drop after the ignition is turned off is there to make sure the system has to work at the start of the next trip. That way, you find out it doesn't work before you are fifty miles into the Gobi desert (or Sainsbury's carpark).
