Cup Holder Wireless Charger - anyone get it to work?

As per the subject.

Maybe I'm missing something but I take off the cover of my Samsung S8+, insert into the above and nothing happens.

Engine is running, doors and boot shut, tried removing and inserting a few times, cleaned the handset etc. but the charge indicator on the mobile itself doesn't change nor do any lights come on, not even a red one indicating a fault.

Any suggestions (aside from throwing it in the bin) would be most welcome!

Have you tried seeing if an iPhone 8 or X will charge on it? This ins’t The induction charger is it as there is one where the Apple Lightening connector is built in and another where you have to lay your phone flat on it so the phone can slide around....... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

^^^

This isn't the Apple-specific one rather the universal jobbie that should charge any handset which supports wireless charging - handset is inserted into the centre holding it firmly:

Not tried an iPhone but when my son is home later may try his to see if that works.

Annoying as mine works flawlessly at home using a generic £15 wireless charger yet the no doubt far more expensive in-car one is not playing ball...
