Complete new bumper required? Really?

I have tried seraching the site - but not found exactly the right topic. I have had my 59 plate Sport for a year now. Absolutly love it. Which is why I was so annoyed when I bumped into a concrete post and scratched the black plastic part of the front bumper (corner).

Thought I would repalce this part. But the local Range Rover garage tells me that this would in fact require a whole new bumper - including painting of the upper part to match the bodywork. I thought the front bumper (particularly the lower plastic parts) were a modular design.

Is the garage right - a whole new front assembly & painting is required?? Any help or guidance for this naive newbie would be much appreciated.

Thank you

My car is going in tomorrow as someone reversed into me.

Exactly the same as you, if any of the plastic is scratched, it needs a whole new bumper at a significant cost. I have an autobiography and apparently only the sliver plastic trim at the bottom is replaceable on it's own, everything else is a whole new bumper.

I reckon a smart repair place will be able to fix the black plastic bit to a reasonable standard. Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

When my wife reversed into a post, denting and spliting the bumper on her Audi, my local smart repair guy did a superb job, all in for £250 (in 2013)

PH3 welcome to the RRS club, companies like Chipsaway and Dent Master can usually fix this sort of damage on your drive or in the office car park. They operate as franchises so quality of repairs between franchisees can vary but my experiences with Chipsaway has always been good. Some of these companies can also undertake interior fabric and leather repairs too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Many thanks everyone. Good call re the smart repair firms. Will try that route first as I want to upgrade next year to a newer model (and possibly switch to petrol too) so if I can avoid a really big bill now that would help. Cheers
