Dash Cam - which one?

Any advice on which Dash Cam is considered best for installing into a 2006 Sport? I might try to do the installation myself so any guide as to installation procedure/instructions would be much appreciated!! Andrew Kennedy

This is mine http://www.dx.com/p/viofo-a119s-v2-capacit...vlSVy0vyUk

Does everything I need and with it being a wedge shape, sits nice and discreet behind the RVM Thumbs Up Steve.

Thinkware 770 for me as well, easy to install with hard wire kit and so far very reliable. I used two piggy back fuses as it needs a permanent live for parked recording. They are not cheap but get good reviews.

Thanks for that Steve!! Did you install it yourself? I'm just wondering if it needs a call in at my local garage or perhaps DIY. Does it come with all the required wires etc. Andrew Andrew Kennedy

If you're going to install it yourself like I did, check the input voltage of the camera as most of them I believe are 5v and you will fry it if you hard wire it into the 12v electrics.

Easy to rectify though, you can buy a step down convertor (converts 12v to 5v) for about £10 on popular auction sites and they usually come with the correct lead for the camera too (ie micro or mini USB).

Good luck! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Have had the F770 Front and Rear cameras fitted for 2/3 years now and never had any problems at all, has some good features included i.e. speed camera location etc, 12volt so easy to wire straight in. Will also accept a 128gb card (only certain one's though) although spec. says 64gb max. Not the cheapest on the market though, but personally think its one of the best and worth it. Thumbs Up

Cheers
Col

I recently did the Mini 0906 dual dashcam ( currently installed in both our RRS and X1 )

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic50823.html

Good camera and uses a capacitor which is a a lot better, as all my dash cams i have used in previous cars have all had dead battery's eventually which will cause corruption on the last file save when the ignition turns off .

Auto-Express this week has a big test of dash cams that you might like to read before deciding which one to buy.

Autoexpress’s photo of the Blackvue bracket upside down is triggering an OCD attack here. But clearly the best money-no-object camera. Right? My only concern is the bandwidth (and therefore time) it would take to upload a parking incident. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Picked up a cam that clips onto rear view mirror and rear cam for 35 quid on ebay and another tenner for a hardwire kit. Full hd and audio. Hardest part of fitting was piggybacking the fuse as those fuses are tiny and the wee red fuse extractor tool is a pile of keech, skinny long nose pliers rule.
