Anybody recognise these having some work done?

Hi all. Thought it join the forums as I’m a newbie RRS owner. I pass this place every day on my way to work and there has been a 2014 sport outside for a good few weeks and another 2014 inside. Always littered with engines and gearboxes on the floor. I have my RRS in at oval autos having an engine change but prior to it going there, I called around 4 other places. I have a feeling that this garage in Wolverhampton is actually the place on eBay allegedly based in Somerset, with the owners name “Sam Sparkes”.

Just curious really as the cars been left outside in a not

very nice part of Wolverhampton Thumbs Up

Photos aren’t great. I’m new to this..

Reg is H*14TYP

Don't recognise the place and i thought I knew most places around there. PM me the road and I'll find out.

BTW Alex, your car is behind 2 sets of locked gates. Cool Joe

Yeah it used to be called archer cars. Then it turned into a Land Rover specialist of sorts. I’m 90% sure it’s this place on eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...4081684034

I called up and they were meant to be based in south staffs, then they were based in Somerset, then they were based in Wolverhampton and after all that, they have an 0333 number. When I spoke to the guy about what the engine is likely to need, he said “I can tell you straight away it’s going to need a crankshaft”. Which when it’s not a crank related issue I found it hard to understand how you could even come to that conclusion.

Good to hear that it’s secure Joe, thank you.

Sounds like they run for a year or 2 then start again, weather to not to pay creditors or to bin claims for no good work who knows. And i bet car left at owners risk if any damage or theft occurs.

I suspect the latter Smile

And yes I’d imagine so. Cars banged up down the one side. Suspension all the way down. Looks very sorry for itself, that 2014

That eBay link is dead now!

I'm in Wolverhampton later and might pop round, just to be nosey.

Looking to start your car this week as scheduled. I'll give you a shout when it's out. Joe

If you’re coming from the Penn road with this garage on your right, you can see straight in through the front doors. Messy!

That’s great Joe, once it’s ready to be put back together il bring that under tray down. Cheers!

Ahh yes. The item and all traces of it have been removed. I guess I was right 😂 They’ve been rumbled.

They claimed to be an engineering shop and had all photos of lathes and stuff, yet also had bad grammar which made me suspicious in the first place.

Hopefully saved one land rover owner from potentially getting scammed now Smile

Now again, I could be jumping the gun. But this has popped up. A guy named Barry doing engines in the West Midlands, but with an 0800 number and almost like for like to the description of the above link that was taken down. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...4396873507

I suspect they are just buying established eBay shops off eBay to make them look legitimate.

Update, enter their number 01642270058 in to google and find this. Land Rover scam. Makes for an interesting read!

And for the benefit of anyone taking their cars there, I noticed a Midland Car Spares van delivering parts there. They claim to use OEM parts on the eBay add but midland car spares use the cheapest parts money can buy. £12 set of brake pads kind of cheap..

Also some more land rovers around the corner.

Why are there so many scammers about!?

Is it worth mentioning this on the FF & Disco forums? 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Probably yes. I have mentioned it on the above forum. Obviously the same people as this garage is 2 sets of traffic lights from sunbeam street.

Seeing story’s of people’s cars being stolen a few weeks after having the car back as the keys were cloned, that’s exactly why I chose to take mine somewhere reputable.
