Limp mode again.

Sorry if this topic has been done to the death but i need advice from the forum techs,

I have just bought a 2010 RRS HSE with 33,000 miles on it in very very good condition, Only had the car 5 days and already been in limp mode twice. I had the car on a proper diagnostic yesterday and the fault codes were pointing to the turbo actuators being stuck in the closed position. When it goes to limp mode i am restricted to around 35mph but if i turn the engine off and wait 10 mins then the fault clears and it is good to go until i try to go above 60mph.

My question is guy's........Would a split intercooler hose throw up the same code as a stuck actuator?

I know the latter problem would be an expensive fix hence the question regarding the split hose.

I do have a warranty on the car but i need to be armed with some info to hit the dealer with when i turn up on his doorstep.

Thanks in advance.

No a split hose would not bring up a stuck actuator code if you search on here and disco3 you will see it's a quite common problem that you can do yourself or return it to where you bought it for them to fix Thumbs Up

UPDATE!
After having the fault codes cleared a couple of days ago the car now drives as it should, Early days yet i know but it seems that the stuck turbo actuator thing has freed off for now.............. Very Happy

Did you buy the car privately or from a dealer (any dealer not just a JLR franchise)? You have consumer rights for this to be repaired by the seller if you bought from a car dealer but time is of the essence as you have, iirc 30 days from taking the car. You are not far from our resident Scottish Land Rover specialist, member Disco Mickey who operates as an independent LR specialist in Dundee 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The dealer is more than happy to fix any problems with the car as i have 1 years warranty on it, I have to wait until it does the limp mode thing again so they have a fault code to work from.
I have a LR Specialist near me in Ladybank and one in Cupar.

Limp mode has struck again, Car has been faultless for the past week but went into limp mode again this morning, The car was also listing to the nearside and was telling me it was locked in "extended " mode. The suspension would drop down to access mode but then came straight back up to extended mode, After a few attempts it did finally go to normal ride height and the fault warning cleared from the dash cluster.

Would the suspension issue give a "Restricted performance " warning or am i still looking at a turbo issue?

You'd best be hoping it isn't anything that requires replacing a turbo as that is a body off pain in the arse. Had to repace both mine recently (SDV6) and for that you are looking at north of £3.5k 😱

I have had the ECU read again this evening and i have a suspension fault and a turbo actuator issue, Cleared the codes and the car is driving fine, I have notified the dealer i bought from and they are more than happy to repair the motor, My indie mechanic has emailed the diagnostic report to the dealer so they can get parts ordered asap, It looks like the car will be returned to the dealer over the weekend and is fixed........................For the time being. Whistle

Well i feel a further up date is called for here...............

I had the car back to the dealer to sort out this Limp Mode issue i have been having, The dealers mechanic says he could not find anything wrong with it but said it might be some crossover solenoid thing that could be on its way out. Long story short, I took the car away as it was actually driving fine at the time, Until a week later when the fault struck again.

So now the RRS has been in to a Landrover specialist for the past 4 days and they diagnosed a turbo shut off valve as being the culprit. They called this afternoon to say the car was ready to go and all is fine.

I think you can all guess where this is going....................

Yup, Less than a mile form the Specialist workshop and Limp Mode yet again. I went right back to his door and presented him with my key, He looked a bit surprised but not shocked that i was back so soon. The car is back on the ramps for another head scratching session no doubt.

I have only had the motor for a month and i have now had enough, I have notified the dealer of this and gave him an ultimatum to get his car sorted or take it back for a refund. It is a shame because i really like the RRS but i think i will be going down the PCP route then i will have trouble free motoring if nothing else.
