air bag light on

Hello Gents, got an air bag light coming on intermittently . B0091-81 (AE) Left side restraints sensor 1 - Bus signal/message failure - invalid serial data received. this is the code i got using the gap tool. any help is greatly appreciated. the clock spring fix was done at the main dealer years ago under previous ownership. correct me if i am wrong but according to the code am i supposed to look at the left side seat belt latch electrical connector? i have read some threads which state to loosen and re tighten a connector under the seat. if any one can help to point me in the right direction would be great. any photos and instructions and precautions would also be welcome. eg disconnect battery so the air bag does not blow up ect...

Not sure if this is of any use, taken from Workshop Manual,

Sensor 1 - Invalid serial
data received.
NOTE: Circuit reference LH
SIDE SENS F1 / LH SIDE SENS R1
Left side impact sensor 1

Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the left side impact sensor 1 (door) circuit for open circuit

Hello Col, thanks for the quick reply. Thumbs Up i don't have a workshop manual, next on the wish list. ok , by the sounds of that i guess i am looking for an impact sensor. location left hand side front door? i will google the location to see if i am correct. thanks for pointing me in the right direction. if you uncover any more information please post as this air bag light seems to be quite a common problem. of course the air bag light can be triggered by many other sensors and pin pointing the exact cause can be frustrating. Col thanks again for your help, i will post my progress. Cheers Neil.

Neil,

If you pm me a email address I can send you some wiring diagrams as well that may help. There are at least three L/H side impact sensors, Front Door, "B" post and "C" post, hopefully it is the door one, as the code points to that.

Cheers
Col

Hello Gents, first off thanks again to Col, just a update to the air bag light. after looking around for some time checking connector plugs ect. i have traced the fault to the drivers door harness. whilst opening the door with the engine running, the air bag light came on and the chime also was on as well.
next move will be to figure out how to access the connector at the door. may have a poor connection. if anyone has any advice or has done this as well please chime in. i really could use the help.
Cheers Neil
