3rd row seats & HUD - thoughts please?

Hi all

I know the 3rd row seats are small and not designed for adults or long-range use but for me they would be very handy on the odd occasion when the wider brood are on tour (kids are all under 5).

Aside from losing boot space and the spare wheel any other negatives to having them and any peeps on here got them and use them regularly (or at all)?

Also the Head Up Display. I've used this on an Audi and it is very handy as it makes you more wary of your speed but the motor I am looking at doesn't have it; is it any good in the RRS and can it be retrofitted OR, if I go that route, worth adding as a £1K option?

Cheers

I have HUD and don't use, also I can hear the fan that cools the HUD unit and this also annoys me. HUD IMO is something that does not add driving pleasure. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

No drawbacks of the 3rd row of seats....

Excepting the inability to fit 22” wheels. Though no-one seems to know why. I suspect it’s a comfort / ride thing.

And no spare tyre. 2022 P440e AB

I have the hud on the my17 I have and it’s the first time I had one and I really like it a great constant reminder of your speed and the navi is really useful
I don’t have any issues with noise from it tbh and it is a first tick in the options box for me now

I have the MY17 which has the older version hud and is perfectly ok but the MY18 gets the new velar HUD which is a significant step up from the older style orange display to full colour option

^^^^

Have driven the Velar with HUD, very clear and displayed the vehicle speed alongside the speed limit sign - about the only thing that impressed me on the Velar.

Will most likely spec HUD if (that is IF) I order a MY18 RRS for September. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018
2015 MY16 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, ebony/cirrus, sliding pano, cameras, black wheels - Arrived 1 October 2015

Do you have any more info on this - I'm just about to purchase a new set of 22's with new tyres but wasn't aware it would cause issues Crying or Very sad

I thought it was a load issue for the tyres. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My wife hates HUD and turns it off. I quite like it but I wouldn't pay £200 for it, never mind £1000+. And I wouldn't normally buy the solar windscreen need either. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Chap above is saying the new variant of HUD is much improved but having not seen either in a RRS I can't really comment!

What is the solar attenuating windscreen about? Does it cut out UV rays or reduce glare?

I have the 5+2 seating option and my kids are aged 3 and 5. The default family car is my wife's, however when I need to take the little ones they go straight in the third row and it saves me moving child seats between cars which is a huge bonus. We wouldn't use them on a long journey but if you have children of the right age they are a great option to have.

Having said that my car lives at the local dealership so I haven't had much opportunity to use them. MY16 (65) RRS, HSE, White, 21" 507s, Pan/Black Roof, 7 Seats, Ebony/Cirrus, Surround Cams, Fully Color Coded

I love the HUD. Would be the first option on my list any day of the week now.

The solar attenuating windscreen is metalized to reflect IR radiation from the sun. Because of the film it enhances with reflection of the HUD and needs to be specified with it.

Cheers for the information, I guess any pre-owned would (by default) have been specified as such?
