Boot not opening from outside when engine running

Hi folks

Does anyone know of any ability to change settings to allow the boot opened from the boot switch when the engine is running?
When picking up my bairns I'm forever getting out to open the boot to put in musical instruments etc. but I then need to reach back to dash (keyless entry so fob never to hand). The additional annoyance is that I'd like to be local to the boot in bad weather so I can prevent it opening fully and rain pouring in or wind sucking loose stuff out. I do mostly short runs so don't need to stop/start the engine more than absolutely necessary.

Thanks

Edit - I wrote door switch but meant boot switch. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Don’t you have to turn off auto locks in the settings, that way soon as it starts it doesn’t lock.

I turn that feature off as soon as I get the vehicle as I don't see the point in needlessly wearing the lock solenoids out - I've already had to have one changed out. There's not too much car jacking where I live!

I don't think it's anything to do with the locks as all doors are unlocked, just the boot switch doesn't work when the engine is running, I presume for security like to prevent someone opening the boot at traffic lights etc. Infact now I remember that even the fob won't open it when engine is running, only the dash button. It's a PITA... 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Out of curiosity just checked what mine does, doesn't open or close with the remote if the engine is running, however will open and close from outside the car with the engine running using the tailgate switches or the button inside the car, with either the doors open or closed, I also have drive away locking activated, however to be fair I have not tried it after driving and coming to a halt with the engine left running.

Cheers

With my 2010 TDV8 the tailgate (or tail gate glass) will open with the engine running if the vehicle gear lever is put into park and the handbreak applied.

Col, is yours a 2013 RRS1 or 2? There's might be hope yet then...

Meiang, Although I've the one piece boot lid I'll need to try both Park and Hnadbrake as the likelihood is I'd select Neutral and apply the handbrake if picking someone up. Although that probably wouldn't help me much as I'd be out of the RRS before remembering to select Park.

Anyway it's not the biggest issue, just something that if anyone had known an easy fix/settings change then it'd have been handy.

Hi, mines a MY13 RRS1 obviously with the one piece tailgate, also has the open/close control mod fitted that a forum member produced. Will double check whether it has to be in park or not, as it would have been when I actually tried it.

Just checked mine, has to be in Park to work from the outside with or without engine running, made no difference whether the handbrake was on or off, will also open/close from dash button even with the car in drive.

Cheers
Col
