is the sim card data used for spotify? instead of using mobile phone data?

Jim,

I was going to get one from Sky that lets you roll over data but it is on a contract which I would prefer not to have as I will use mine only for live traffic updates and very occasionally.

Have you used the one you posted for live traffic updates too? Just wondering how long the one you posted will last if I use it for live traffic updates.

Jas i have been reading the reviews on this and there are a few reviewers that have used it for what you have mentioned, seems to be fine.

From what I’ve tried the data for Spotify comes from the phone not the car but honestly it’s a bitch to get it to sync that’s more the issue I have and I’m on My17 not the latest 18 version
I use Spotify in the RRS and my x5 I just wish Jlr had the same software architecture as the Germans sometimes I get 100% connection on the x5 maybe 10% on the RRS

Yes, as Spotify runs on the phone then data comes through that. It would be from the car SIM if you’ve connected the phone to the car’s WiFi. As I’ve pointed out before, be careful doing the latter with an iPod permanently plugged in as it will automatically update over the car’s WiFi and soon use Gb of data in doing so.

philmw - how do you stop iphone updating? and what is it updating?.

Software updates. I think the phone will automatically update if plugged in and on WiFi.

Jimbg, thanks for the recommendation on the Three Data Sim, works just fine. One question though- the car screen only displays as 3G, is it the MY 17 RRS that is only 3G? My wife has a Three network phone and it was showing 4G in the same locations so not the signal. 2017my RRS 2.0 SD4 HSE, Firenze red, black and panaroof
