My 2014 had a leaking pinion seal on the rear diff when I bought it, with less than 20,000 miles. Just one of the reasons why I will never go back to that dealer again. They must have seen it, and chose to ignore it, presumably because as a warranty claim, they get paid to fix it.

However, it was fixed under warranty and it should be easily be done within the day. It isn`t a very big job. I had a courtesy car overnight when mine was done.

Thats wierd as my car last week went back in for rear camera failure plus steering rod replacement and it took a week to do, just before it was due to come back they phoned to say they had discovered my diff was leaking.

this took a further 5 days to get approved by LR used warranty as they didnt want to replace it without every option being tested, in the end the screws that held the diff together were siezed anyways so a replacement was all they could do, very pleased it had used warranty left Whistle

it appears this is quite common by the sounds of it, perhaps i should be looking under the car before for leaks before the end of the warranty next june just to be safe?? MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

This does seem to be a common issue, I noticed a spot of oil on the garage floor at 3 1/2 years old. JLR would only pay 50% of the £1300 bill as out of warranty "goodwill". Fortunately I have 3rd party insurance that covered the remainder.

I had a similar experience. Dealer picked it up whilst on an inspection for another issue and it was done under warranty, However there was no explanation why it was not done before they had sold it a few weeks earlier. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit
