United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Started looking

I’ve decided that I’m coming back to Land Rover and have decided on another Sport, this time the L494.
I’m torn at the moment between an HSE Dynamic and an Autobiography on either a 16 or 17 plate.
Dealer prices seem to be all over the place and a lot for sale seem to be a batch of LR owned cars (nothing wrong with them as I had an older TDV8 back in 2012).

I’m just hoping that something decent comes up once the March 1st part ex cars hit the forecourts.

I’ve been doing a lot of catch up reading re known problems but if anyone can advise then it would be appreciated.

Hi,
L/R "owned" or L/R "managed" can be a big difference Rolling Eyes

we ignored the advertised price Laughing decided what spec we wanted (service plan, towbar, dynamic, full size spare) and anything that came up contacted dealer and said what we wanted to pay Shocked
Must admit, most said "I don't think so sir" Whistle
but one or two did come back saying "are you still interested sir we have just reduced it"
and
Now drive a dynamic, with service plan, full size spare and a towbar (added by dealer incl in the deal)

SP worth having IF you plan on keeping a few years or miles

enjoy the search Thumbs Up Porsche Cayenne 2022

I know exactly what you mean by LR owned etc.
Must have bits for me are Heated Steering Wheel, Towbar and Privacy Glass. I did start looking at used SVR but the dealers want nearly as much as they were new. Are they really that sought after?

Hopefully something will come up soon that ticks all the boxes.

Hi,
we did not find many with a towbar,
but had a Removable bar fitted by the dealer
made sure I got the original rear cover panel back as I don't like the big cut out on the one that comes with the bar
it installs a receiver cross bar behind the bumper much like the previous model but with a better Whistle removable neck
had to pivot the electrics plug a bit but can now put original cover panel back on and no one knows there is a towbar fitted

Tony,

There are lots of 1 year old ABs out there for mid 60’s if your not to fussy about colours, most seem to be grey or black, personally after having a 66plate Hse dynamic then moving up to a 67 plate AB I would go for the newest AB you can get for your budget mainly due to the full warranty which would cover the dreaded snapped crankshaft if the worst happened, assuming your having an sdv6 anyway.

Good luck with your search, there are some new pre reg ABs with no miles on for around £70k but all depends on how much you want to spend.

Thank you for the replies, great info.
I’m also tempted by a 66 plate SVR but just don’t know if it’s a step too far. They seem to hold onto most of their value even as a second owner.

I would be wary about a Land Rover owned used car as the last time I was at a Land Rover experience day, I asked the instructor what happened to the cars when they were finished with them. He said they go back to Land Rover after about 4000 miles. May be on a forecourt near you as a Land Rover "management " car Whistle Big Cry

I think these tend to be white with an ‘OV’ reg plate....

I have a free experience day booked for beginning of April. I shall check the number plates to see if they are OV & report back
Handy to know if they are

If they were, you'd think that the GMV on a PCP would be a lot higher than it is. According to those calculations, LR think that they're going to depreciate much more than a diesel. Or they have a much higher margin between trade in value and resale value than they do on all their other cars. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

After doing a bit or research playing with advertised cars and 'Cap' values, the 17 plated cars have a massive margin between trade and resale. this isn't so bad with the many 66 plated Autobiography's that are around.

Ive seen a lovely 17 plate with low mileage that ticks all the boxes but is sadly for sale at Stratstone. As you know, they won't give a penny off and prices are not negotiable. They even quote Cap used for your part ex too.

I know that Im going to lose money straight away as soon as its driven off the forecourt (even as a used car) but the thought of losing this massive amount is well, er.............when it will be a lot less on a 66 plate.

They don't make it easy to buy cars do they?

Its a cracking car but I need/want an electrically deployable tow bar and a sliding roof.
Yours does look fab though.

Towbar can be retrofitted (os so I have been told)

The creaky sliding roof has a big bar in the middle, which splits the roof to create two smaller sunroofs internally, not as good as the full pan roof IMO. Wink SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.
