Ctek extention cable

Is it ok to put two extension cables together so I can make 5 metres in length as I can only find 2.5 m cables

Mr Stuart of D3 fame posted about this on D3 forums. He asked CTEK, who said No.

Given the price of them, I'm sure there must be a better solution (like having a connection at the rear of the car) or maybe the front ?

I have two 2.5m cables joined together on mine, no problem. Never even gave it a thought when I did it

there will be a voltage drop along their thin cables.

which may cause intermittent problems.

I like to put a charging socket in the boot.

Not to be beaten....I "made" a route from the battery to the boot Laughing

Comfort connector from battery to door and inside the Sport

Then the extension fitted and run through the inside to boot

Then charger plugged into 240v extension and into the garage.....where there`s a will there`s a way Laughing Bit of a palava but it`ll only be done once in a while Thumbs Up

NOTE TO SELF.....UNPLUG BEFORE DRIVING OFF Mr. Green

I too have two 2.5M cables joined together, never had a problem. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Good to hear. I didn't think there would be a problem in practice but ctek say no.

Problem would happen mainly when charging a dead battery or running as a supply as the voltage drop is directly related to the amount of current being drawn.

for those that are interested it's calculated as mv*a*m diveded by 1000 (milivolts * amps * meters)/1000

All that would happen is the charging would take a little longer, since the volt drop would fall as the charging current drops off, and the charger would automatically compensate for it. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
