It's HERE!!!!, some early tech help needed...

yes, after many years, it's now on the drive. Will try to get some pics up soon.

I have some questions. I know I know, I have searched but cannot find any specific answers that are recent that help me, so here goes...any help would be most appreciated...

2006, 2.7TDV6 HSE. 67,000 miles. Very tidy indeed. Silver. Mods planned: change silver mirror covers back to standard, upgrade the 19" alloys to 20" alloys. Needs Bluetooth as doesn't have this option.

1. Warranty. It's got a 3 month freebie from the garage. I want to now add my own. I've had two quotes WW and WD and neither cover suspension? and TBH the list of things covered does seem limited? What would you guys reccommend?

2. Mirror covers...how the hell do I get the god awful chrome covers off and where is the best place to get some OEM matt grey replacements?

3. I can hear a "buzzing" noise on idle. Sounds like it's coming from the front right hand corner. Any thought? It disappears when we raise the revs and is sweet as a nut from that point on.

4. What are my options for adding Bluetooth?

That's all for now. I'm loving our new addition and making excuses to have to go out for stuff...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on my questions.

Regards, Michael.

Hi Michael, congratulations and welcome!!!!

I've had mine over 18 months now and even now still look for an excuse to go out so don't expect that feeling to go like it does with most cars!

Can't help you with the warranty but best option to get the mirror covers off is a hot air gun. They are usually held on with several strips of 3M tape which is pretty strong! Heat it up all over but be prepared to break the covers if they won't come off in one go. There are glue removal products out there but be careful with paint and plastic.

Replacing the covers you can try Powerful.co.uk they offer lots of aftermarket and OEM parts for RRS.

Not sure what you mean "adding Bluetooth", my 2005 SC came with it but it is a pain as you have to pair your phone every time you get in, If your phone finds Bluetooth in your car try the pairing code 2121. Other than that try Bodsy (forum member on here), he can send you reconfigured BT unit so you don't have to keep pairing.

Hope that helps and that you have many enjoyable hours and miles in your new toy! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

1 Wouldn't you start your own warranty near the end of the 3 month warranty. Why pay for 2 when the new one could run for longer?
Also if its a lemon and the garage has it back, you will be out of pocket.

2 Someone fitted chrome cover to cover up and awful black mirrors.
If you prefer black, the chrome covers could just be stuck on top ?

4 With bluetooth, you could add a disco4 module if you want you phone book accessable on the headunit . or if its mainly for answering calls an aftermarket kit. (there a 3 pins on the back of the head unit for mute, and to pump the call sound out the car speakers)

Thanks guys. Ordered a unit off Amazon for the Bluetooth Phone and Audio streaming...

New 20" Alloys fitted yesterday. New wiper blades ordered, new keys ordered, odd noise on tick over fixed yesterday (water pipes vibrating against the body of the car),

Here are two quick pics of the old girl...

Cheers Steve. Sounds good, pardon the pun. Fingers crossed it works as it seem like a cheaper solution for me.

20" inch wheels could be a problem, as vehicles with the larger wheel required a different rack. There think a TSB issued regards this. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Maybe the aux input on logic7 systems fitted to petrol are good, and the diesel harmon karden poor.

The AUX input on a Logic 7 system isn’t that great. Much better quality from the CD changer so all I did was convert all the music I want to MP3 using iTunes, then burn on to CDR’s (approx 6 hours on a disk using a medium quality kb/s)
No noticeable difference to the max kb/s as found on a ‘normal’ music CD and with 6 discs full, more music than i’ll ever need on a long drive.
