Hello,

Just wandering if a manual gearbox can be fitted into an RRS. i know it may sound odd to many of you who own an RRS and 'drive' it with an automatic gearbox but i'm sacreligious and prefer using a manual gearbox, that's just me though.

has anyone carried out this type of modification or does anybody have any knowledge of something that goes along the same lines, and if so, where would i be able to obtain a suitable gearbox from? would i be able to use one from a Defender, Freelander or Discovery?

The chassis is the same and so is the majority of the wiring looms....you could do it but you will need a 'donor' disco3 and associated engine and transfer box ecu's etc

It's a rather 'big' project...good luck

The auto is so good why would you want to shift gears by yourself? You can manually shift it anyway if you want to

I haven't heard of any conversions to RRS's but I know that JE Engineering do them the other way with Defenders - from manual to automatic, and having enquired about it I can tell you the price STARTS at £10k...................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Why don't you use the steptronic gear shift?

Much cheaper in my opinion.  Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

i don't actually own one....... yet.
i am a bit young to be driving a full on RRS but when i do get one, i don't want to use an automatic gearbox and i don't want to shift an automatic gearbox manually either!

It would also require a heap of changes to the driver's footwell and the pedals to fit a clutch............................. best bet would probably be to re-body a D3 with the top half of an RRS, if they can be swapped!
You could also go to Bowler and see if they make a manual shift Nemisis, then you would get a Range Stormer lookalike - prices from £120,000! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

ok, a bit too much information to take in. i'm new to the RRS. i have disliked all Land Rovers up until recently when i fell in love with the Defender, then the Disco 3, then, well you get the idea.
i do like the RRS, over the RR, even if it is a lesser model. I've not sat in an RR or an RRS but does it only have two pedals? Brake and Accelerator/Gas? and how difficult would it be to fit or have a clutch pedal fitted? i'm guessing the pedal will most suited if it is the one obtained with the Disco3 gearbox.

Have you ever driven a modern auto, if not its worth trying the RRS auto box with command shift is superb.
I would think that if you were to modify a RRS to a manual it will seriously devalue it IMHO some of my Previous cars

why would i need to worry about devaluing my car? it isn't like i'm going to sell it and buy a new one every two years, i mean, who would be pathetic enough to commit such an act on such an extreme and superior vehicle?

If you arnt worried about devaluing the car because you arnt going to sell it after two years, you will have to wait a long time for the RRS to come down in value for it not to matter about the resale value.

People do do funny things to cars and then sell them and lose a lot of money, some people have moor money than sense some of my Previous cars

For years I adopted the "I will never drive an auto" stance.

Now I will never drive a manual as my every day vehicle ever again. Manual perhaps for a weekend Sports car but never again for day in day out driving. I used to have a sj413 and used it every day severe off roading It had been prepared proffesionaly for offroading.

I broke it every day, you name it i broke it, it had to go some of my Previous cars
