HELP locking wheel nut wont undo...

Took off the spare to see what the 19' wheels looked like (22' being repaired) and went to re[place 22 before, seems locking nut just spinning with some friction? any ideas?

Not had that problem (yet) Laughing

Have you tried removing all the other wheelnuts (with that corner jacked up of course) and then pulling the wheel outward whilst turning the locking wheel nut? If it comes off have a look at the threads on the stud and the LWN 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

@ Woodcutter..

Oh dear oh dear oh dear..

I guess that Your locking Wheel nuts have separated.. Shocked

That means that the "cap" is loose on the nut..

You have to break it, to get it off.. Sad

Check here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1142473#1142473

I hope that it gives some help and consolation..

Best regards

Hi Woodcutter, might be an idea to remove one of the other locking nuts and have a good look at it to try and work out what is happening and the best way to attack it. MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

we had a similar thing on a works car cap of the nut was spinning as it had separated we managed to get it of with a bit of A-Team style thinking and got a can of the compressed air the type you use to clean computers ect , took the car round thrashed it and lot of heavy breaking to heat up the wheels then quickly held the compressed air upside down and emptied the whole can on the nut (upside down the cans vapours freeze) and then quickly got the brace on it and undone it the rapid cooling shrunk the metal enough for it to grip for us to get it off
worth a try for the cost of it only the dead truely know peace,

Once removed then ditch all nuts both normal capped and locking.
Replace with solid nuts off ebay.
No more swollen nuts or spinning lockers.
