Loss of DAB

My good friends "down south" have an issue with their 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE in that AM/FM is fine, but DAB is not available. Screen just says "no reception", and won't tune.

They have been quoted £1000 to fix it, having taken it to an Indy near Brighton. (not sure who).

Any thoughts from the collective? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Following, because mine has a habit of doing the same thing - I mean, the reception is shocking generally (compared to newer cars), but sometimes will just sit and do nothing at all for a bit after starting.

Also .. wilf, on the naughty step - the same wilf who used to own a Crendon, by any chance? If so, it's a small bloody world, this Internet thing. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Coincidentally, The DAB in mine was playing up a few days ago, crackling a bit. It now seems OK all on it's own. That being said, it's not a patch on my last car a 2016 Civic.

OK, so no-one can help, but can anyone tell me if the DAB module is indeed a separate module, and where is it located? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Not the best shot but item 13 by the looks of it, could be worth checking the aerials first which are items 9 and 20.

Wilf
The reception in general darn Sarf is pretty bad generally,
mine crackles and sometimes goes dead for a few moments,
but never lost signal for more than a few shortish period of time.

The TV as well is very poor, its only really when I go away on hols
that it all works as it should..

would be great if there was an easy fix that doesn't cost the earth, ===========================================

Thanks both. The issue here is that it was working, then stopped, so something has failed somewhere. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Col has indicated the correct module. Can you confirm it’s DAB+ and not just DAB?

Many stations are moving from DAB to DAB+ so it may be that there’s no signal displayed because there is no signal.

If there is a fault, there should be a DTC for it. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Can't provide any more info, sorry. Issue is that my friends, whose car this is, are not really technical. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Ask them if they can get any reception. It may be that the station they regularly listen to has moved to DAB+, I’ve a feeling that it was MY12 that introduced the + so if there’s is a 2011 registered 11MY, that could be their issue. There is a retro kit available but I wouldn’t recommend it unless they can confirm if it’s a complete loss or just their go to Station moving over. 2012 5.0 SC AB

I did do that, they can still get FM/AM, but nada on DAB, not single station will tune in. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
