Sport won't start.

Hi guys, I'm relatively new to ownership and I've encountered my 1st fault. Went to start it this morning and it wouldn't start. Called the AA who said its not getting enough fuel pressure to start it, it's recently had both bumps replaced albeit by its previous owner so the AA say either fuel pressure sensor or fuel pressure regulator, only fault found was for fuel pressure.

Has anyone ever had this? So it's now sat on the drive as I don't know anyone who would work on this.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
Any independent LR servicing garage on genuine LR dealership can do the repairs if you can get it to them.
Have the fault codes been read by AA as something should have been logged I would have thought?
I take it the battery is fully charged, as although this may not be the fault this time, they do cause a lot of various faults and errors.

One of our more knowledgeable members on this area will be along shortly I'm sure. John

Yes the battery was fully charged and he cranked the engine over and over and it didn't die, the fault code logged was P0193 which he says is fuel pressure sensor but he says he doubts it that!

Quick update, there's no fuel even getting to the fuel filter, so the tank is being dropped next week, logically you'd think its the tank pump but that was only done 6 weeks ago! Surely they won't fail so soon? It was a brand new genuine part, I'm at a loss to what else the problem could be.....

Have you checked fuse number 1 in the engine bay fuse box?

Could be the in tank fuel pump solonoid. Best way is to get under car near tank and put your hand on tank cover get someone to switch ignition on. Listen and feel for pump priming will last 10 seconds. If nothing then it's either fuel pump has failed or it's not getting power. If you can hear or feel it priming then it is the fuel pump solonoid it's failed and closed.

Now you mention it I've not heard it prime the system, so the solenoid, is that not part of the pump? Or do you replace that separately?

The solonoid is and isn't part of a new pump. If you replaced the pump in its carrying case and all new fuel lines then yes the solonoid would be new. But you can open up the pump case and just replace the pump only this is the cheaper option. But a fuel pipe has to be replaced and the negative charged wire that goes to the solonoid has to be cut and re wired if this has come loose then the solonoid will close and not open till it gets a negative charge.

Just to update and end this thread, the fault was the tank pump, so replaced the whole assembly this time, this is the 2nd pump in 2 months! Just hope this one lasts longer.
