Looking to buy my first RR Sport

Hi all I'm in the market for a new vehicle and been looking fondly at 2005-2010 RR sport mainly. I only do 6000 miles a year so ideally would want a petrol 4.2 supercharged model. I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with things to look out for when buying. I've heard the petrol engines are quite reliable with very few major issues, I'm just wondering if there's any other things to look out for and any potential running costs side from the obvious fuel and tax bills which I don't mind too much. Thanks everyone, looking forward to getting to know you all.

England 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Fuji White

As you get into the 2010 year you’re looking at the facelift 5.0 Supercharged. I’ve seen them as low as £15000 for the HSR so could be an option if you have the funds available. 2012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
67 plate Focus ST Line (Current)
09 Mondeo 2.2 Titanium X Sport (Current)
1942 VEP Ford GPW Jeep (Willys) (Current)

02 Ford Focus TDCI (Brilliant car sadly scrapped)
99 BMW M3GTII (Amazing car, written off By a Fiat)

Yes I could stretch to a face-lift model. Would it be worth the extra cash then. Is the newer model more reliable than the 4.2?

More reliable? Probably no more or no less really. What you would get is the revised interior and exterior which many try to emulate when modifying their car. I prefer the look of the revised interior over the pre face lift but each to their own. I would suggest a test drive in both versions to make your own mind up. 2012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Previously I had the facelift but currently have the HST 2006 4.2 which I have grown to absolutely LOVE. I’ve had To professionally polished (stage 2) and added new front grill, painted BREMBO callipers, painted rear grey plastic to colour match the car, new steering wheel. I am now very very happy

Maybe save some £££££ 2006 RRS Supercharged 4.2 HST muthuaflecka!

Yeah there are plenty of 4.2 models with low miles for well under £15k. May just take a punt on one of those, and bank the rest for the inevitable repairs and maintenance. I just wanted to be sure they are not as unreliable as people have told me. I've had people who've never owned a land rover telling me not to bother as it'll always be in the garage having expensive repairs. Thought I'd ask some real owners their opinions on it. Obviously a fair amount of wear and tear is acceptable on a 10 year old vehicle. But wouldn't want something too extreme.

As long as brakes are ok, check arms and bushes etc
Maybe buy from a garage and get them to show you relevant paperwork

I’m not taking to specialist for servicing as mines 12 years old. Paying my local garage around d a £100 for a major service as I know nothing is wrong with the car. Why would I want to pay a specialist to check things like lights and windscreen wipers work?!? 2006 RRS Supercharged 4.2 HST muthuaflecka!
