Had something similar with our Shogun, turned out it was the feed to the glow plugs, so no preheat before starting the engine, caused a big cloud of smoke but only in the mornings as this was when the engine was cold.

Hi David, thanks for reply. Never even crossed my mind the glow plugs could cause that kind of problem but you may be right as it has all the symptoms for glow plugs too! I’m booked in Wednesday to have it looked at now so I’ll mention glow plugs to the mechanic. The strange thing is I have no warning lights on the dash to show any problems at all! Just praying it’s not the injectors. Thanks Steve |

I had this last year on my 2005 RRS. I tend to cycle the glow plugs twice before starting when its very cold, improves things a lot. Should really replace the glow plugs but have read horror stories of them snapping off when being removed. |

Hi Phil, does yours shake when it’s sitting in idle? Mine seems to settle when the cars warmed up but if I stop and switch off for 5 mins then start the car again it still shakes but not as much. Thanks Steve |

Hi mate thanks for reply, think egr is my best hope as injectors or glow plugs is going to be expensive! I’ve ordered so blanking caps for the egr’s anyway just to rule that out. |

No once its running its fine. It was just the initial start up when it ran rough and gave off white smoke. |
