Centre console lid akin to open all hours checkout till!

Our lid on the centre console cubby box is a finger breaker when it's being closed. Is there meant to be a spring or something to control the decent👨‍⚕️🚑

Can't comment on the facelift models, but from 05 to 10 the lunch box lid is a finger flattener and has only a basic hinge with no damping/spring Thumbs Up
