Sidestep trim end caps?

Anyone know if it is possible to buy replacement end caps for the aluminium trims for the 2009 L320.?

Got mine back today, the ones I bought from a member on here. They were in good condition but rather than have them slowly corrode away like the ones currently fitted have done. I stripped them down, had them sand blasted, hot dip galvanised and when I picked them up I then gave them 3 coats of zinc primer, topped off with 3 coats of black gloss. And yes to please many of you Thumbs Up I had the trims powder coated gloss red again. Mr. Green Only, they misplaced the end caps hence why the post in the first place, I may have 1 or 2 on my set but would rather buy new if possible.

As they came back

First coat of zinc primer

Then a coat of gloss black

Got around to fitting them today, a few bolts so badly rusted had to be ground off, but other than that a simple but slightly long winded job. I can’t believe the state of the ones I removed.

Considering at the most these can only be Max 8 years old.
Near side, side step put back together.

Driver side, I only use it to push myself in not actually baring my weight on it, thank god!

But passenger side, and my wife does step on it fully as she’s a short ass.

Top job Thumbs Up you would hope they will see your ownership out! I like the galvanised idea rather than just undercoating up, approx what did you spend on blasting/galvanising.

Blasting of the 6 brackets and 2 boards and alu trims was £38, galvanising of the boards and brackets were £106 and the powder coating the alu was £50.
I got the steps from a local guy on here for £125 so all in was about £320. For a better than new set of genuine landrover steps. All fixings were replaced with new stainless bolts etc.
All done be at BMT, Great Yarmouth

Actually gave the car a clean so all looking fresh again

I DO HAVE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED A SET OF CUT PLASTIC GENUINE LANDROVER SILLS AND RUBBER TREADS. THAT CAME WITH THEM, BUT I ALREADY HAD THEM ON MINE. FREE TO WHO EVER WANTS TO COLLECT THEM.

Excellent idea to get the steps and brackets galvanised, I've still not fitted any to mine as the corrosion after a short while was of concern. This is definately now on my to do list.

But for anyone planning doing the same, skip the galvafroid, it's not needed and may cause additional problems as most paints will react with it, it needs a particular type paint after, which I cannot remember which just now. Also, as the metal is already galvanised then galvafroid is pointless, just keep moisture away from the galvanising and it'll last almost forever, just T-wash or equivalent then paint with appropriate paints.

Here's a good link for galvanised finishes. http://www.galvanizing.org.uk/painting-galvanized-steel/ 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Yep was unnecessary but i asked the guys about spraying it and this is what they said, and it wasn’t any more expensive than normal primer, It purely personal choice as I was worried that if the rubber mats didn’t seat correctly of the red trims didn’t marry up flush the shiney silver finish may of been seen and I didnt want that. Would of just hammerited it, but I couldn’t find a brush.lol
