Hello all.
Whilst driving home last night I had one main beam headlight staying on, blinding oncoming vehicles. I disconnected the complete unit to get home. I have reconnected the unit today and the light is still on. No ignition or lights turned on. Disconnected the battery for a while to reset everything but no go. As soon as battery reconnected the light comes on.

For info adaptive lights on a 2007/08 Sport tdv8.

Hope someone can help

probably a short circuit FET in the glovebox fusebox which is expensive.

Maybe a relay would be a cheap fix
e.g

Cut main beam wire going into the troublesome headlight.
connect headlight end to pin 87
car end to pin 30
earth pin 85
connect pin 86 to the other sides main beam wire


P.S - you can't just remove the headlight bulb as the HID shutter will still be in main beam mode

Is it the auxiliary fill-in beam or the Xenon that is staying on? Or both? If it's the Xenon then it might be the shutter that is stuck. Might be possible to free it off in that case. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi. Not sure about what light unit is which. Its the single bulb unit.

I have now removed that bulb for the moment and will do further investigation in the morning when hopefully the wind has died down.

Trouble is the flap will be powered. Hope it doesn't flatten battery.

Sure enough when I went out in the dark and tested despite removing the bulb the flap must be powered and that bulb is on high beam but at least only when the lights are turned on

So far no solution but no flat battery.

I think you had your solution in the second post.

Replace CJB which is probably £500 plus a fair bit of labour.

Or

Cut wire into headlight so it's driveable.
Leaving enough room to reconnect or fit relay.
